Building communities through leadership is not only intrinsically good, but can also benefit the economy and deliver virtuous public service. The fundamental purpose of Power to Lead is to inspire Catholics to look at the horizon and make a difference to society. Since last 10 years, Power to Lead has been developing leaders to go beyond themselves and play their role as agents of change in the world.
Making a difference in self: Power to Lead has contributed exceptionally to individual leadership growth. Alumni claim with confidence that they have witnessed a positive change within themselves which spells success to Power to Lead as an individual self-enhancing programme. Making a difference to others: You cannot change others; you can only change yourself. Many alumni have gone out of the ‘Power to Lead’ programme fired with the vision to be a better person and have worked on projects at their work places, in their communities, in their parishes and in their families to create a better world.
Building a supportive community: Many alumni are ready to contribute by becoming coaches, facilitating sessions and hosting alumni events thus willingly giving back to Power to Lead and to society.
The next step: The aim for us today should be to draw all alumni together and transition towards a movement beyond a programme. This can be done by utilizing the leadership skills we have generated over 10 years. How do we collectively transform our world? Where is transformation needed? How can we maximize our influence and efforts that we have already begun putting in? These are questions we need to ask ourselves.
Gen S solution: We live in times of stress, struggling to manage our own priorities, personal and professional. This generation has been more stressed than ever before. I call this the Gen S (generation stress). Let us think there are ways and means by which this new generation will immensely benefit from Power to Lead and become adept at influencing others. I have great news for Gen S… be a part of Power to Lead movement.
